Michal Gutwald

Fife Flyers, are delighted to confirm the signing of Czech defenceman Michal Gutwald.

Gutwald originally arrived in the Elite Ice Hockey League back in 2017 when he signed with Braehead Clan, as they were at the time. Gutwald spent 2 seasons with the Renfrew club, icing in a total of 109 games and scoring 9 goals and 17 assists.

Last season Gutwald was part of the Glasgow Clan Gardiner conference title winning team.

The 26 year old Czech defenceman brings with him top league experience from the Czech Republic with Rytiri Kladno icing in 15 games. Michal went on to ice with Kladno in the Czech 2nd tier, icing in 88 games and tallying 2 goals and 10 assists.

Head Coach Todd Dutiaume had the following to say "Michal impressed us over the past two season playing against with the Clan.

"He moves well, makes simple plays and plays a quietly confident game.

"We will look to increase his offensive output in a Flyers jersey this season."

Michal added "I really liked my time in Scotland, so when the offer came, I was excited of the idea to come back.

"When I spoke with coach Todd, and we had the same thoughts, that sealed the deal for me.

"I am very glad to be joining the Flyers and pursue the highest goals."
