Fife Flyers vs Cardiff Devils post game summary

Fife Flyers, sponsored by Arnold Clark Mercedes-Benz, welcomed back the defending Elite Ice Hockey League champions the Cardiff Devils to Fife Ice Arena for the 2nd time this season, one week on from Flyers incredible 8-6 win in Ice Arena Wales.

Flyers went into the game having won 5 of their previous 8 fixtures, whilst Devils have lost their last 3 games. Flyers welcomed back Charlie Mosey to the line up who had missed the previous 2 weekends through injury.

It was a perfect start for Todd Dutiaume's side as Peter LeBlanc put the home side in front after just 58 seconds when he fired the puck beyond Ben Bowns. Evan Bloodoff doubled the Flyers lead at the half way point in the period as he made it 2-0 at 10:38.

Cardiff pulled a goal back at 11:40 when Layne Ulmer scored Cardiff's opening goal of game, then just over a minute later Joey Martin tied the game at 12:43 sending the teams into the dressing rooms tied a 2-2 at the end of the opening period.

Cardiff Devils took an early lead in the second period when defenceman Gleason Fournier put Andrew Lord's men ahead for the first time in the game at 24:21.

Despite dominating the second period, the Devils were unable to get themselves back on the scoreboard and went into the dressing room at the end of the period with a narrow 3-2 lead.

Flyers looked to get themselves back in the game in the 3rd period and applied most of the pressure, however it was Andrew Lord who got Cardiff's 4th goal of the night when he made it 4-2 at 50:58.

With just over 3 minutes remaining in the final period, Todd Dutiaume pulled netminder Andy Iles as his side looked to claw 2 goals back, and at 59:05 Danick Gauthier brought it back to a 1 goal game when he got Flyers 3rd goal, but it was not enough as Cardiff held on in the end to seal a 4-3 win.
