Fife Flyers vs Cardiff Devils game summary

This Saturday sees the Fife Flyers, sponsored by Arnold Clark Mercedes-Benz, return to action at Fife Ice Arena following last weekend's away double header which saw them defeat the Cardiff Devils 8-6, following a stunning comeback having been 5-1 down.

Both teams go into Saturday's fixture tied on 18 points in the EIHL. Saturday's fixture will be Cardiff's 2nd trip to Kirkcaldy in the space of a month having travelled to Fife Ice Arena back in October, coming away with a 5-3 victory.

Andrew Lord's Cardiff Devils side go into this weekend's game on the back of 3 losses, having lost to Dundee Stars (3-1), Fife Flyers (8-6) and Nottingham Panthers (7-4).

Last Saturday Todd Dutiaume's side punished the Devils with their special teams, scoring 6 goals on the powerplay and 1 shorthanded goal, a stat that has helped Flyers to 2nd in the league in terms of their powerplay unit, as well as 2nd in the league in penalty killing.

This weekend also see's the Flyers hold their annual Children's Hospice Across Scotland (formerly known as Children's Hospice Association Scotland). The players will be wearing specially designed limited edition CHAS jerseys, for the game v’s Cardiff Devils.

We’ll be raising money for CHAS on the night, by holding a shirt off the back raffle to win Josh Scoon’s special CHAS jersey together with a bucket collection and a raffle for various other prizes!

Prior to joining the Devils, Morissette had also iced in Germany, France, Denmark and the CHL.

This will be Faryna’s third season in the EIHL, after two very productive years with the Dundee Stars. Two seasons ago in 2015/16, Faryna scored 29 goals including a team leading 9 goals on the powerplay. His 63 points that year were 2nd on the team and put him 12th in the league in the overall scoring charts. Last season he tied for his team’s lead in goals with 26 and also led his team in powerplay goals with 8. Faryna also led the Stars in penalty minutes for the past 2 seasons with 176 and 110 minutes respectively.

After backstopping the Devils to the Challenge Cup title for the second time in three years, Bowns led Cardiff to their first league title in 20 years on route to the Devils most successful season in the Elite League era. For the second straight season, Bowns was chosen as the Netminder of the Year by the coaches and general managers around the Elite League after posting a 2.42 goals against average, a 90.8% save percentage and winning 42 games for the Devils during 2016/17.
