Brendan Brooks

Fife Flyers’ forward Brendan Brooks has hailed netminder Shane Owen among one of the best he’s played with in his career.

Owen has been outstanding for the Flyers this season as they sit in fourth place in the Elite League table.

But as they head to Braehead Clan on Saturday, Brooks thinks his team have their best chance of beating his old team when they meet in Glasgow.

Shane Owen

“Shane’s right up there with the goalies I’ve played with in my career and he’s someone that gives us a chance to win every night.

“He competes hard in practice and works hard in games.  We’re fortunate to have him and he’s a great guy to have in the dressing room on top of that.

“He’s been able to make those big saves when we really need the save.  He gives us an opportunity to win and that’s huge for a team.

“Looking ahead, Braehead are a tough team and this will be the first time in while we’ll have close to a full line-up.  I really think this will help us and give us a better chance to compete and hopefully beat them.

“It’s a pretty important week for both teams.  For us in the Conference, we have to find a way to stay close to Braehead and this is a big game and opportunity for us.”
