Flyers to Play Sheffield Steeldogs
Fife Flyers will be taking to the ice against Sheffield Steeldogs (previously Sheffield Scimitars) on Saturday 4th September @ Fife Ice Arena at 7.00pm, after they accepted a kind invitation from Barry Greig for another pre-season Challenge game. Flyers will then travel down to Sheffield the day after to take on the Steeldogs in Sheffield. Last year the Sheffield Scimitars formed part of a tournament involving Fife Flyers, Dundee Stars and Solway Sharks, in which the Scimitars took the honours and lifted what turned out to be their only silverware of the season. Signing Spree for Flyers
Flyers will have a new, albeit familiar look next season after confirming that four former players have rejoined the club. Defenceman Chad Reekie, and forwards Liam Greig, Daryl Venters and Chris Linton, have all signed on ahead of the new season, which begins with the Northern League launch event in Newcastle next weekend. Flyers' preparations for the new ice hockey season are underway. Head coach Todd Dutiaume has held talks with the bulk of last season's squad and the wraps should come off his first confirmed signings in the next few weeks. Flyers will ice in an expanded eight-team cross-Border Northern League from September which will bring new teams such as Flintshire Freeze, Sheffield Spartans and Bradford Bulldogs to Fife Ice Arena for the very first time. BIPHA Scotland Play-Off Final in Memory of Iain Bell @ Fife Ice Arena 24/7/10
After discussion with Iain's family, the BIPHA Scotland Play Off Final will go ahead tomorrow (Saturday 24 July) at 5pm at Fife Ice Arena. This will be Dundee Tigers first game since the sad loss of Iain and will be an opportunity for Fife Fans who could not attend Iain's funeral to pay their respects. Everyone at Fife Flyers would like to pass on their deepest condolences to the family and friends of former Fife Flyer Iain Bell who sadly at the young age of 20 passed away this morning (16th July 2010). Iain was a highly skilled player who proved to be very popular with many Fife fans.
