2: Tommy Muir

I got the chance to speak to Tommy Muir, our #2, after the recent game against Moray Tornadoes. I don’t think he’s had a chance to read the article on Gavin Fleming so he agreed! Tommy, who has received glowing praise from Player/Coach Todd Dutiaume recently for his commitment to the team in all aspects, was a charming interviewee who answered frankly and openly. Here is the interview.

WHAT ARE YOUR FIRST HOCKEY MEMORIES?
I was aged 7 and not being able to skate at all with Mark Nikoperiwicz (apologies if incorrect spelling) coaching us.

WHO ARE YOUR TOUGHEST CURRENT OPPONENTS?
It has to be Dundee Stars, especially John Dolan. He’s a quick good skater. I don’t think we’ll get another game against them this year like the last one (11-2).

BEST INDIVIDUAL MOMNET IN HOCKEY?
Winning the Under 13’s Conference at Hull for Scotland.

WHAT ARE YOUR VIEWS ON ZERO TOLERANCE?
In the long run it should get better. Some guys are struggling at the moment (an aside from Gavin Fleming was laughed at) and the refs are still sorting out what to call or not.

DO YOU HAVE A PRE-MATCH ROUTINE?
At the end of the Warm-Up I try to hit the crossbar, as do a few other guys. I usually have lunch at my Grans.

POST-MATCH.
A couple of beers and I’m usually last out of the dressing room.

ROAD TRIPS?
Maybe a few hands of cards and just try to relax.

WHO ARE THE TEAM JOKERS?
Jamie Wilson and, of course, Steven King and John Haig.

DO YOU HAVE AN NHL TEAM?
Has to be the Vancouver Canucks. I’ve been over a couple of times.

IF YOU COULD BRING IN 1 RULE CHANGE WHAT WOULD IT BE?
The front of the net, you should be allowed to use your arms to get players to the side of the net.

HAVE YOU SEEN ANY ELITE LEAGUE GAMES?
Just the end of Edinburgh games when we’re waiting to get on. The players are bigger but it all looks like Dump ‘n’ Chase.

TELL US SOMETHING ABOUT YOURSELF FANS WOULDN’T KNOW?
Tommy thought long and hard about this before saying, “ I’m a better golfer than Todd!”

DO YOU PLAY OTHER SPORTS?
Golf and a wee bit of football.

WHAT KIND OF MUSIC DO YOU LIKE?
Razorlight and Dance Music.

FAVOURITE TV?
Still Game.
