David Turon signs for Fife

Fife Flyers are delighted to confirm the signing of 32 year old Czech D-man David Turon.

The 6’2 198lbs D-man is no stranger to the EIHL having played for Gardiner Conference rivals the Dundee Stars last season, before moving on to play in Poland.

Turon was part of the NHL draft in 2002 round 4 #122 overall by Toronto Maple Leafs and has also played in the AHL, CHL/ECHL, Slovakia, Czech, Germany 2, Italy and Poland. Turon has a wealth of experience and will be a welcome addition to the Flyers defensive core.

Head Coach Todd Dutiaume had the following to say on signing David “I saw David play a number of times last year and liked what I saw. He will give us some more size back there, he is a steady and consistent performer and came highly recommended by his peers. He has a wealth of experience and will be an asset both in the room and on the ice.”

“David will fit in very well on this team, he's a good team guy who is willing to do what it takes to win.”

“Crucially it also gives me another right handed d-man to work with Phil Paquet.”

Turon added “I am looking forward to joining the Flyers and returning to the EIHL. I’m excited for the season ahead and looking forward to getting back on the ice in September and winning some games.”
