With 14 games played so far, Mike Hamilton has bagged himself 19 points for the Flyers. He has bagged 8 goals and 11 assists and is currently the teams top point scorer. Hamilton joined Fife with a pedigree most teams would kill for, having played in 53 AHL games, whilst registering 11 points (5 goals and 6 assists) and 37 penalty minutes. Mike Hamilton has also played on the same team as fellow Fife Flyer Matt Siddall during both their time with AHL outfitChicago Wolves and former ECHL team Victoria Salmon Kings, coached by Fife legend Mark Morrison (now coaching Winnipeg Jets AHL affiliate team St. John's IceCaps). Mike took some time out to talk about how he has settled in to Fife and the Rapid Solicitors Elite Ice Hockey League.

How are you finding life in the Elite League?

Life in the elite league has been challenging so far, losing games is really tough and our whole team takes it to heart. Most importantly we are working to try and improve and become a competitive team. Not just for ourselves but for the fans who have been supporting us along the way.

Mike Hamilton in actionWhat made you chose Fife?

I have played with Sidds on a few different teams over the years and we have remained close friends so when he committed here we talked about playing together again and now here we are and I have no regrets.

Were you aware of the EIHL and have you ever been approached in the past to come over and play in the UK/Europe?

I have had lots of friends and ex teammates who play or had played in the elite league so I have known about the league and spoken with a bunch of teams in the last few years.

What do you think would constitute a successful campaign for the Flyers?

And do you have any personal goals? As far as goals for the season our main goal is to get into the play-offs, we want to work and get better each week to give ourselves an opportunity to get into the post season, by doing that we should be able to get some wins along the way. Personally my goals are to work hard and compete for this hockey club and contribute in anyway to help us win games. I also want to be a leader on and off the ice.

Who would you say is the biggest character in the dressing room?Mike Hamilton in action against Belfast Giants

We have a great group of guys in our locker room, tons of characters I wouldn't able to break it down as to who is the biggest but Stewart and Zemlak are right up there.

Has there been any rivalry between Fife and any of the other teams that has caught your attention?

As for rivalries, the only team we played more then twice has been Edinburgh so they have been the biggest to date. But I'm sure things will start heating up as we go along especially with the 3 other teams in Scotland.

Which of the Elite sides that you’ve faced has impressed you the most this season?

Belfast has looked good so far, they have a few dangerous players for sure. Nottingham also have been strong.

Mike Hamilton in action Have there been any of the local lads that have really impressed you?

All the local boys have been great, I think as a team we have all really started to bond. I know the imports really respect the busy schedule these guys have with university and work. They are non stop busy!

How has your short time in Fife been?

So far my time in Fife has been great, all the people and especially my teammates have been really friendly and welcoming.

And finally, what does your typical day involve?

As for us we have a little more time during the day. Our typical day will involve the gym and maybe a grocery trip then practice, nothing to exciting. So far I have really enjoyed fife, the town is great and people even better. I haven't been to far from here, just Glasgow and Edinburgh a few times, but look forward to seeing more.
