Fife Flyers Corporate Packages
Fife Flyers, established in 1938, is the oldest ice hockey club in the United Kingdom, beating the Nottingham Panthers by eight years. Based at the Fife Ice Arena, the team has a history of success through the ages, with over sixty Scottish and British cups and titles to their name.
At the start of this 2011/12 season, Flyers took their place in the ten team UK Elite Ice Hockey League, the top professional ice hockey league in the country.
The Elite Ice Hockey League is the premier ice hockey competition in the United Kingdom and features teams from Belfast, Braehead (Glasgow), Cardiff, Coventry, Dundee, Edinburgh, Fife, Hull, Nottingham and Sheffield.
The winners of the league then qualify for the Continental Cup, ice hockey’s equivalent of football’s Champions’ League.
The league have an agreement with Sky Sports who have a weekly programme going out on Sky Sports 4 that features some live matches with the highlights of every other league game taking place during that week.
The season commences in September and culminates in the Play-off Finals weekend in Nottingham during April. The top eight teams qualify for the play-offs and the top four from the knock-out stages will battle it out over the Finals’ weekend to decide who is crowned British Champions.
Crowds vary from arena to arena with the average attendance in the league being around the 1500 mark. One thing that doesn’t change from rink to rink is the audience that shows just what a family sport ice hockey is.
A recent survey showed that it is made up from 40% adult male, 30% adult female and 30% children, confirming that families support the World’s fastest team sport.
