Flyers name 2016/17 captains

Fife Flyers can confirm that Ryan Dingle has been named as Captain for the forthcoming season. This will be fan favourite, Ryan Dingles second year with the club.

Title winning defenceman Russ Moyer and returning forward Justin Fox have been appointed Alternate Captains for the forthcoming season. Both will wear the 'A' on all competitive jerseys this season.

Returning player Shayne Stockton has also been named as an Alternate Captain alongside newcomer Sébastien Thinel. Stockton’s Away and Challenge Cup jerseys will feature the 'A', whilst Thinel’s Home jersey will feature the 'A' during home games.

Head coach Todd Dutiaume explained his decision about the appointments "We have an experienced veteran presence in the dressing room this season, I think that leadership is something we have searched for over the years.

"In some ways picking our leaders was easy, but in other ways not so easy. The guys who we have picked really optimise what we strive for at Fife.

"Ryan is the type of player that leaves everything out on the ice every time he plays and demands that of his team mates. He is the type of player Fife strive to recruit, and retain. Ryan is a top class guy and an exceptional hockey player."

Todd Dutiaume also shared his reasoning for choosing his alternate captains this season "These are guys with experience of knowing what is needed at this club, and some with experience winning a championship. They are all quality guys who will hold their team mates accountable in the dressing room."

Ryan Dingle spoke about being named captain for the Flyers. "It's an amazing honour to be named captain of the Flyers. The Flyers organisation is one that is rich in tradition and I am proud to wear the "C" for the club and will wear it with pride!

"I like to lead by example and I don't plan on changing that. If I continue to bring work ethic and determination to every game it will be contagious throughout the ranks.

"We have a great team this season! It's a nice blend of experienced and young, determined guys. The group of leaders that have been selected to be our alternate captains demonstrate just that. It's a one-two punch that will play a huge role in our successes this season."

Head coach Todd Dutiaume talks to Flyers TV about naming his 2016/17 Flyers captains.
