Fife Flyers defeat Nottingham Panthers

Sunday evening and Flyers returned to home ice action as they hosted Nottingham Panthers, who were playing their 3rd game of a Scottish triple header. Flyers took to the ice looking to bounce back after Saturday's 4-1 loss to Sheffield Steelers.

The opening period saw a fast, hard hitting match up as both teams were unable to create clear scoring chances but looked to get the edge in the opening period. Flyers did manage to get on the score sheet late in the opening period when Jeff Lee scored his 2nd goal in 2 nights, as he picked up the rebound at the Panthers net to make it 1-0 at 18:06, taking the Flyers in to the dressing room with a 1-0 lead at the end of the 1st period.

Into the 2nd period and Nottingham were given the chance to tie the game early on as Justin Fox was sent to the penalty box at 21:56, Nottingham tied the game on the powerplay when Steve Lee fired a rocket of a slapshot from the blue line passed David Brown in the Fife net.

Flyers regained a deserved lead shortly after as Philippe Paquet's shot rolled under Wiikman and into the net at 26:44.

As the 2nd period was running down Nottingham's Logan MacMillan put the puck in the back of the net at 36:36 to make it 2-2 game with the score remaining that way until the end of the period with the teams heading in to the dressing room.

A big 3rd period from Fife saw 3 unanswered goals wrap up the game, and win for Flyers. Justin Fox put Flyers back in front at 3-2 when he scored on the powerplay at 47:59. TJ Caig made it 4-2 at 11:04 when Flyers again found themselves on the powerplay after Panthers' Andy Bohmbach was sent to the penalty box for slashing.

Michael Dorr wrapped up the scoring with an empty net goal at 18:44.
