Beth Scoon in action with Team GB

Joining us at the game tonight will be Women’s GB Internationalist, Beth Scoon ahead of the IIHF Women's World Championships in Dumfries.

Sister of Flyers #15 Josh Scoon, Beth has been selected for Team GB as they face Croatia, Kazakhstan, Korea, New Zealand and Poland at the Ice Bowl in Dumfries between 30th March and 5th April in the Division 2A event.

Pre-tournament GB take on the Solway Sharks in a warm up game on Friday 27th March before they face New Zealand (Monday 30th), Korea (Tuesday 31st), Croatia (Thursday 2nd), Poland (Saturday 4th) and finally Kazakhstan (Sunday 5th).

GB narrowly missed out promotion last year in Asiago, Italy where they picked up the silver medal behind the host nation and they are aiming to go one better this year with the advantage of home ice, particularly for Beth as the only Scot in the team.

Beth has played right up through the Kirkcaldy Junior Development System since she was eight years old and is currently in her final season with the Fife Falcons under 20 team coached by ex Flyer Scott Plews.

Sports and Exercise Science student Beth also ices with Edinburgh Eagles, who compete in Tier 1 of the British Universities Ice Hockey Association, GB Universities Women's team and with Kingston Diamonds (Hull) senior women's team in the English Women's Premier League, the top women's division in the UK.

As well as occasional studying, Beth also captains the Edinburgh Napier University Women's Basketball team and represented GB at inline roller hockey at the 2014 FIRS world championships in Toulouse, France where she was top points scorer for the senior women's team and earned a bronze medal with the Under 18 women's team.

If you are not going to Nottingham for the play offs and you fancy a hockey-fix, Beth and the GB girls would welcome your support.
