Danick Gauthier Shane Owen

Fife Flyers are delighted to welcome back to the roster forward Danick Gauthier and Goaltender Shane Owen.

Gauthier originally joined the Flyers for the 2017/18 season and will be back in the #78 jersey for 2018/19. The 6’2, 200lbs, 26 year old from Waterloo, QC Canada amassed 51pts from 53 games last season (26 goals & 25 assists) and was a reliable asset to the Flyers roster.

Head Coach Todd Dutiaume had the following to say on re-signing the popular forward: “Danick was a big presence in our line-up last season and a target of ours to have back. After a number of lengthy discussions, I'm delighted to have the Goat back in our line-up.”

“Speaking to Danick he now feels that he knows the league better and is familiar with our family, so he has even more to offer offensively and physically.”
“Once again he will be relied on heavily in most situations and I look to him to lead by example night in and night out."

Gauthier added “I really enjoyed my time in Fife last season and I am looking forward to heading back to Fife this season and competing for silverware.”

Fife Flyers also welcome back to the Auld Barn a familiar face from 2 seasons ago, Canadian Goaltender Shane Owen.

The 28 year old from Markham, ON originally joined the Flyers for the 2016/17 season, playing in 52 games for the Flyers with a GAA of 3.41 and a SVS% of .908. He also won the Fans Player of the Year Award and the Players Player of the Year Award that season.

Last season he moved on to Europe where he played for BIK Karlskoga in the Swedish Allsvensken and then he moved on to play in the ECHL for Wichita Thunder and Rapid City Rush, before finishing the season in Poland with KH GKA Katowice.

Fife Flyers Assistant Coach Jeff Hutchins said “Shane was a league all-star the last time he played in the EIHL. We are delighted that we managed to bring him back to Kirkcaldy.”

“He held us in a lot of games and gave us a chance to win where we probably shouldn’t have on some nights. He’s professional and comes ready to work every day.”

“We have been fortunate in Fife to have quality goalies over the years, having Shane back in the blue, white & gold this coming year assures that trend continues.“

Shane added “I’m really excited to be heading back to Fife. I enjoyed my time there the season before last and followed their journey last season, when they won the Gardiner Conference. I’m looking forward to heading back to Scotland and the EIHL, and playing for the Flyers in their 80th anniversary year. See you soon Flyers fans!.”
