Game Preview vs Edinburgh Capitals

This Saturday the Fife Flyers, sponsored by Arnold Clark Mercedes-Benz, welcome back old rivals the Edinburgh Capitals to Fife Ice Arena in what is expected to be a much tougher match up than their previous encounter in Kirkcaldy.

Edinburgh return to Fife Ice Arena having suffered their heaviest defeat of the season, 10-1 loss. Edinburgh hosted Flyers on hogmanay at Murrayfield in a much tighter game which saw Flyers secure a 5-3 win.

Jock Hay and Mike D'Orazio have welcomed new netminder to the Capitals with the arrival of Tyler Beskorowany, who helped his new side pick up their first pointon Sunday after a 2-1 overtime loss to the Dundee Stars, the Capitals first point since the 26th November, ending a 13 game pointless streak.

Going into this Saturday's fixtures Flyers on a winning streak of 7 games, as well as having 12 of their last 13 league/conference games.

Evan Bloodoff goes into Saturday's game having scored in each of his last 4 games, a run which saw him score the overtime winner against Braehead Clan at Fife Ice Arena last Saturday.

Beslorowany joins the Capitals with a hugely impressive CV having been drafted in the second round of the 2008 NHL Draft by the Dallas Stars. Tyler made the breakthrough in to the AHL in 2010-2011 signing for the Texas Stars. Between 2010-2014 Tyler made 64 appearances in the American Hockey League (he has played 66 times in the league to date) and split his time between the AHL and ECHL during that time. In his first season as a professional in 2010-2011 Tyler made it to the ECHL All Star game. Between 2014 and 2016 Tyler played for Dusseldorfer and Nurnberg in the German DEL. In 2015-2016 he was named the DEL Netminder of the year. 


Kolesnikovs rejoined the Capitals in November this year having previously played for them back in 2015/16. Kolsnikovs joined the club following a season in the LNAH (North American Hockey League). Prior to joining the Capitals the former Latvian junior international also boasted experience playing in Norway, Italy, Latvia and Slovakia.


The signing of Cazzola made many fans around the league take notice of the Edinburgh Capitals this summer. The forward was the top point scorer for his club the Fort Wayne Komets, and was also the top point scoring rookie in the ECHL with 76 points (30 goals and 46 assists) in just 67 games. Voted on to the ECHL All Rookie All Star team, Cazzola ranked joint 11th overall in the league for point scoring in his first season in the highly competitive league.
