Peter LeBlanc Signing Announcement

Fife Flyers are delighted to confirm the signing of experienced Canadian forward Peter LeBlanc for the 2017/18 Elite Ice Hockey League season.

LeBlanc, 29, arrives in Fife with a hugely impressive CV having iced in the NHL, AHL, ECHL, Swedish Allsvenskan and Finish Liiga. LeBlanc split his time last season between the Cincinnati Cyclones and Manchester Monarchs in the ECHL, icing in 53 games whilst totalling 13 goals and 24 assists.

Drafted by Chicago Blackhawks in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft LeBlanc was assigned to their AHL affiliate team Rockford IceHogs. In 2012 LeBlanc was traded by Chicago to Washington Capitals.

LeBlanc spent 4 seasons in the AHL with Rockford IceHogs and Hershey Bears. Over 4 seasons he iced in 266 games scoring 140 points (60 goals and 80 assists).

In July 2013, LeBlanc was re-signed by Washington to a one-year, two-way contract and iced with the Hershey Bears, for the duration of the 2013–14 season, scoring 12 goals  and 16 assists in 65 games.

It was during the 2013/14 season LeBlanc was recalled by the Capitals and made his NHL debut in their final regular season game in a 1-0 shootout defeat by the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The following season LeBlanc signed for Rögle BK in the Swedish Allsvenskan, icing in 59 games whilst totalling 23 points (10 goals and 13 assists) before going on to play in the Finish Liiga with  Hämeenlinnan Pallokerho. During the 2015/16 season he played in 46 games tallying 2 goals and 8 assists.

Last season LeBlanc signed with the Cincinnati Cyclones but was later traded to Manchester Monarchs.

Speaking about signing for Flyers Peter had the following to say "I am very excited to be playing for Fife in the upcoming season.

"I have never been to Scotland before but everything I have heard about the country from people who have travelled or lived there seem to love it.

"And I have just under two months to learn how to roll my Rs.

"Hockey wise I am looking to come in and provide offence both creating and finishing plays in order to do my part being on a winning team".

Assistant coach Jeff Hutchins added "We are delighted to be able to sign player of Peter's calibre for the coming season.

"He ticks a lot of boxes for us as a coaching staff, he can play at all three forward positions, he has played in some of the best leagues in the world and excelled.

"We feel his experience and skill set will provide us with offence while being positionally reliable in our own end.

"Our conversations throughout the process have been excellent and we think he understands what we are trying to achieve as an organisation.

"We look forward to getting him on the ice in August."
