 Fife attack Sheffield Steelers net

The FiFab Fife Flyers hosted Paul Thompson's title chasing Sheffield Steelers on Sunday night at Fife Ice Arena for the final time in the 2016/17 Elite Ice Hockey League regular season.

It was an enthralling opening period at Fife Ice Arena as the action both teams came out hot from the opening face-off. Carlo Finucci came close in the opening minute but was denied by a goalmouth clearance.

Sheffield Steelers got themselves on the score sheet first as Zack Fitzgerald rushed in from the blueline to pick up a loose puck and fire it into Shane Owen's net at 4:37.

Despite going a goal behind Flyers continued to pressure Sheffield and were finally rewarded with their opening goal when Brendan Brooks set up Mathew Sisca who beat Ervins Mustukovs in the Sheffield net to tie the game up at 14:52.

Brendan Brooks put Flyers in front when he broke out on a breakaway to fire a shot in to the Steelers goal at 16:09.

The action continued in the 2nd period as both sides looked for the next goal of the game, and it was Sheffield who tied the game up after a Mathieu Roy powerplay goal got the Steelers back in the game at 27:37.

It wasn't look before Flyers restored their 1 goal advantage when Mathew Sisca fired Fife back in the lead at 31:27.

Despite Sheffield levelling the game early in the 3rd period thanks to a John Armstrong goal at 4116, a flurry of goals from Fife in the final period saw Flyers secure an impressive win thanks to goals from Chase Schaber, Justin Fox and an empty net goal to seal the win from Carlo Finnuci.
