CHAMPIONEES! CHAMPIONEES

NPL ChampionsWHAT A GAME! Fife Flyers secured their 4th trophy of the season in the final match of the 2007/08 season with a 5-2 victory over Dundee Stars. It looked as if the game would be heading into Overtime with the scores level at 2-2 with less than 4 minutes to go. Dundee Stars had been bombarding Blair Daly in the final period but once again he was up to the challenge. The turning point in the game seemed to come when Liam Greig was thrown out by referee 'Toby' Craig with a 10+Game penalty with 9 minutes remaining in the game.

After Greig was thrown out the Stars seemed to be a different team and Steven Gunn skated down the ice with a 2 on 1 with an inch perfect passed over to Jamie Wilson who duely slotted it under Craig Arthur in the Stars net. Wilson then added his hat-trick goal 90 seconds later to give Flyers a 4-2 lead with 1:45 left in the game. Dundee then pulled their netminder and Steven Lynch stole the puck from the attacking Stars and slotted the 5th goal in the empty net to ensure Flyers lifted the John Brady, NPL Play-Off trophy.
